Orbera – Gastric Balloon

On July 28th, 2015 the FDA approved the ORBERA Intragastric Balloon System. The balloon is delivered into the stomach through a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure via the mouth with no alteration of the patient’s stomach. Once in place, the balloon is filled with salt water (saline) so that it expands into a spherical shape. The balloon can be filled with different amounts of saline (from 400 to 700 cc) to best match the patient’s needs.
