Orbera – Gastric Balloon

July 28th, 2015: The FDA approved the ORBERA Intragastric Balloon System. The balloon is delivered via the mouth into the stomach through a nominally intrusive endoscopic procedure. There is no alteration of the patient’s stomach. Once in the stomach, the balloon is filled with saline to encourage the feeling of fullness. Different amounts of saline are used (from 400 to 700 cc) to best match the patient’s needs.
