The LEAN Way

When you are thinking of undergoing surgery for treating obesity you should be aware of the relevant details. While undergoing any surgery there are many considerations to be taken into account such as the risks and benefits of surgery, knowing thoroughly about the pre and post operative courses, meeting the surgeon and clinical/ support staff, and learning more about the facilities in the hospital and their capability of taking care of you during your stay are important. These considerations would play a major role in your decision.
Additionally, you should know your insurance requirements to enable you to move forward in the process. A BMI of 35-39 with at least one serious co-morbidity (one of them being sleep apnea) or a BMI 40 or greater is required in order to qualify for insurance coverage for any weight loss surgery. Generally, insurance providers require 3-6 months of documentation regarding your effort, in a medically supervised program, within the last year. Our clinical and support staff will walk you through the requirements mandated by your insurance provider.
The process of getting started can be confusing and time consuming. Tri-State Bariatrics provides a process that will make undergoing surgery much easier and less complicated. Also, we will work with your PCP and insurance provider to ensure all paperwork is submitted on time and in an organized manner.
An educated person can better make a valid, logical and informed decision. We don't want you to engage in something you do not understand. Part of this procedure is for you to be fully aware of what you are going to go through.
